Baco, Oriental Mindoro - The municipality and communities of Baco on July 30, 2015 celebrated together with the provincial government of Oriental Mindoro (PGOM) and Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) the launch of a new marine protected area (MPA) with an expanse of 153 hectares composed largely of mangrove forests.

In celebration of its decade-long existence and service to communities in the operating areas of the Malampaya Deepwater Gas-to-Power project, Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) honored its various partners in Batangas, Oriental Mindoro and Palawan through the awarding of a Partnership Appreciation plaque.

Oriental Mindoro - In the wake of typhoon Nona which devastated several municipalities in Oriental Mindoro on December 15, 2015, Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) immediately mobilised for relief operations in partnership with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Mindoro chapter and the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan - Forty-eight (48) BEST Tourism scholars of Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) graduated on December 2, 2015 in a ceremony held at the Asturias Hotel in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Culion, Palawan - The local government of Culion and Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) on November 11, 2015 to foster cooperation and collaboration for conservation and various social development programs in the municipality.

Taytay, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc.’s (MFI) Tanglaw Paaralan program was launched in Palawan on November 5, 2015 at an off-grid public school named Tumbod Elementary School in Bgy. Tumbod located within the Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape in Taytay.

Batangas City, Batangas - Over 300 vocational scholars of Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) graduated from its Bridging Employment through Skills Training (BEST) program on November 3, 2015 at the Batangas City Colliseum.

Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) renewed two conservation covenants in the municipality of Pinamalayan, specifically for the barangays of Ranzo and Banilad, for the protection and management of protected zones in the communities.

Batangas City - The Malampaya Clinical Laboratory, operated by Philippine Red Cross Batangas Chapter, was inaugurated on October 22, 2015. Located in Barangay Ambulong, the laboratory was built through a partnership between Malampaya Foundation, Inc. Philippine Red Cross, City Government of Batangas, Local Government Unit of Barangay Ambulong and the Department of Health region 4-A.

Subic, Zambales - Enterprise groups formed by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) in Subic successfully showcased products and services at the Keppel Subic Shipyard as part of a marketing education for the members of the organisations seeking to launch livelihood projects supported by MFI.

Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro - Eco-diver members of Batangas City and Oriental Mindoro reef watch teams were taught basic coral taxonomy to upgrade resource monitoring skills in select locations of the Verde Island Passage.

Capacity-building on the maintenance of solar systems were conducted in off-grid areas such as Isla Verde, Batangas City and Bgy Tumbod located in the outer Malampaya Sound in Taytay, Palawan to aid resident solar systems users on the maintenance of their solar equipment and lengthen its life.

Clark Freeport Zone, Pampangga - Fifty (50) Bridging Employment through Skills Training (BEST) Batangas scholars were part of a rigorous safety skills upgrading training program for onshore facilities at the SITE training center in Clark Freeport Zone to prepare them for advanced welding careers in different industries locally and abroad.

Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro - Calapan City with support from the provincial government agriculture office and Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) celebrated Marine Protected Area (MPA) Week on September 28-October 4, 2015 with the theme “Bahura, Bakawan at Lusayan-Mga Marine Protected Area ng Lungsod, Ating Pahalagahan, Pagyamanin at Pangalagaan para sa Magandang Kinabukasan”.

Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro - Puerto Galera’s new marine protected area (MPA) and mangrove conservation site was launched on August 26, 2015 with members of the community, municipal and barangay local governments and members of the sangguniang bayan of the municipality.

Calapan, Oriental Mindoro - Malampaya Foundation Inc. signed three new conservation agreements on August 26, 2015 with three new sites in Oriental Mindoro, namely, Bgy. Maasin (Bulalacao), Bgy. Tabinay (Puerto Galera) and Bgy. Pulantubig (Baco).

Taytay, Palawan - The Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape (MSPLS) Protected Area Management Board (PAMB) finally approved on August 25, 2015 the 8,000-hectare management zone in the outer MSPLS located in barangays Tumbod and Liminancong.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan - Fifty six (56) scholars of Malampaya Foundation's Bridging Employment through Skills Training (BEST) program in Palawan graduated on August 14, 2015 from vocational schooling on tourism services-related courses.

Linapacan, Palawan - A community-based coral nursery was established in barangay San Miguel, Linapacan in north Palawan by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) and its conservation partners in the community—the San Miguel MPA Mgmt Council, volunteer ecodivers and members of the Tarabedan Producers Cooperative.

Coron, Palawan - A conservation covenant was signed by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) with the local government of barangay Lajala in Coron, Samahang Mangingisda at Magsasaka ng Bgy Lajala (SMMBL), resort owners and Tamayo Foundation on August 4, 2015.

Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro - A new 18-hectare marine protected area (MPA) was launched on June 24, 2015 at barangay Maasin in the municipality of Bulalacao, Oriental Mindoro by the provincial, municipal and barangay local governments together with Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI).

Taytay, Palawan - Rehabilitation of heavily-damaged reef areas in the outer Malampaya Sound in Taytay, Palawan was started by Malampaya Foundation (MFI) together with the Taytay Department of Environment and Natural Resources-Protected Area Office (DENR-PAO) and volunteer community divers of barangay Tumbod.

Quezon City, Philippines - University of the Philippines (U.P.) Marine Science Institute’s (MSI) Professional Masters in Tropical Marine Environment Management (PM-TMEM) program was included among the roster of post-graduate degree courses of the Malampaya Sustainable Development scholarship program. The inclusion became effective upon signing of the Memorandum of Agreement between the university and MFI.

Batangas City, Batangas - A Gawad Kalasag award from the Office of Civil Defense Region 4-A was accorded anew to Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) on May 27, 2015 for the implementation of its Shoreline Communities Onwards to Resiliency (SHORE) program in Batangas City.

Volunteer divers from Batangas and Oriental Mindoro together with Malampaya Foundation (MFI), Verde Island Bantay Dagat groups, Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, Batangas OCVAS and Oriental Mindoro Provincial Agriculture Office conducted collection of crown of thorns (COTs) in various areas in the Verde Island Passage area.

Subic, Zambales - Malampaya Foundation Inc. Puerto Princesa, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) and Western Philippines University (WPU) formally inaugurated on April 15, 2015 the upgraded and expanded hatchery and marine station of WPU in Binduyan, Puerto Princesa.

Taytay, Palawan - National Scientist Dr. Gavino Trono, known as the Philippines’ "Father of Seaweed Farming", was tapped by Malampaya Foundation Inc. to upgrade seaweeds culture practices in North Palawan in a training held on March 17-20, 2015 for fisherfolk organisations, LGUs from western Taytay and municipality of Linapacan, Western Phils University and independent seaweed farmers.

Coron, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) signed a conservation agreement on March 12, 2015 with Bgy. Bulalacao-based Tagbanauas, the local government and MFI-organized community organisation Samahan ng Mangingisda ng Barangay Bulalacao.

Manila, Philippines - National Scientist for Marine Biology Dr. Edgardo Gomez and Shell companies in the Philippines Vice President for Communications Ramon Del Rosario were elected today into the Board of Trustees of Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI).

By year-end 2015, Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) marked a decade of being SC 38’s main social arm working with communities in Malampaya’s areas of operation. Ten years ago when the foundation was in its infancy, we started with 11 staff members and our first program was the provision of solar systems to 449 barangay health centers and rural health units for the whole province of Palawan. We selected El Nido, Palawan, being closest to the Malampaya offshore platform, as the launch site of MFI and its first program.

Subic, Zambales - Some 600 scholars graduated today at the last commencement ceremony to be held in Subic by Malampaya Foundation for its programs in the area. The scholars were graduates of the Sanayan sa Ikauunland ng Kakayahang Pangkabuhayan (SIKAP) at Project Galing at Negosyo Dulot ay Asenso (GANDA) programs geared for employment, self-employment and enterprise development and targets indigent women, youth and fisherfolk families.

Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro - Municipal ordinance number 2015-001 establishing and providing the operation and maintenance of the Puerto Galera Mangrove Conservation and Ecotourism area in barangays Tabunay and Dulangan was finally passed and enacted by the municipal council on February 11, 2015.

San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro - Active Bantay Dagat members in barangays Tacligan and Ilag of the municipality of San Teodoro received their Red Cross insurance and membership cards provided by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) as part of its Verde Island Passage conservation program in the province, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro.

Calapan, Oriental Mindoro - The signing of conservation convenants with four (4) community-based organisations and their respective local governments on December 2, 2014 capped the year 2014 in Oriental Mindoro for the Verde Island Passage Biodiversity Conservation Program.
