GAWAD KALASAG awarded to MFI for SHORE program

Batangas City, Batangas - A Gawad Kalasag award from the Office of Civil Defense Region 4-A was accorded anew to Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) on May 27, 2015 for the implementation of its Shoreline Communities Onwards to Resiliency (SHORE) program in Batangas City.

The Gawad Kalasag is awarded to agencies, companies and NGOs to recognise outstanding performance of organisations in implementing Disaster Risk Reduction projects and programs, recognise exceptional contributions to rebuilding resilience of communities to disaster and excellence in humanitarian assistance.

MFI’s SHORE program was launched in Q4 2012 as a follow-through to its precedent program Neighborhood Emergency Services Team program, likewise a disaster preparedness program and a Gawad Kalasag awardee in 2008. SHORE was launched to further improve disaster preparedness and response along coastal communities in Batangas, Oriental Mindoro and North Palawan.
