Coron, Palawan - A customary Tagbanua ritual led by the tribal council's Apong Dakulo and ceremonial installation of buoys marked the launch of a new marine protected area (MPA) in Barangay Bulalacao, municipality of Coron on November 26, 2014. The new MPA is backed by Coron municipality ordinance 42-B series of 2014 formally establishing the “Barangay Bulalacao Marine Protected Area".

Subic, Zambales - Five hundred twenty-five (525) scholars of Malampaya Foundation's Sanayan sa Ikauunlad ng Kakayahang Pangkabuhayan (SIKAP) and Project Galing at Negosyo Dulot ay Asenso (GANDA) programs were part of a graduation ceremony on September 16, 2014 at Subic municipality in Zambales.

El Nido, Palawan - Palawan Council for Sustainable Development (PCSD), Malampaya Foundation Inc. Pinamalayan and Gloria, Oriental Mindoro - Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI)-supported fisherfolk organisations in the municipalities of Pinamalayan and Gloria in Oriental Mindoro have observed increases in fish catch yields by a range of 3-8kg/day since MFI and the organisations launched the payao livelihood projects in March and April of this year.

Taytay, Palawan - Wives and daughters of fisher folks in the communities of Liminancong and Tumbod located in the renowned Malampaya Sound was provided with the first-of-a-series hands-on skills training in sewing in a bid to help lessen household expenses and venture into supplemental livelihood or self-employment.

El Nido, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) signed a conservation covenant with Pagkakaisa Pagtutulungan Kalikasan ay Pakaingatan (PPKP), Bgy Buena Suerte LGU, El Nido-Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area Office (ENTMRPA) witnessed by the El Nido local government for the protection, management and rehabilitation of select Community-Managed Marine Areas (CMMA) as well as environmentally-critical terrestrial areas in Bgy Buena Suerte, El Nido.

Coron, Palawan - Trainings in construction and building skills continue in Coron to help rebuild community structures and homes destroyed by Yolanda in November 2013, as well as provide potential alternative employment and livelihood to the trainees.

Batangas City - An agreement was signed on May 28, 2014 between Batangas State University (BSU) and Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) for the Malampaya Sustainable Development Scholarship Program.

Batangas City - Two hundred ten (210) Bridging Employment through Skills Training (BEST) scholars of Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) claimed their certificates signifying successful completion of TESDA-accredited technical trainings in various training centers in Batangas City.

Batangas City - Over 80 children from 14 Batangas City schools participated in the Young Eco Savers environmental youth summer camp designed to build leaders and equip Young Ecosavers Club of participating schools with the tools to strengthen implementation of ecological solid waste management (ESWM) activities.

Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro - Young artists took part in an Environmental Youth Art Workshop organized by Malampaya Foundation Inc. as part of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources' Month-of-the-Ocean celebration in a bid to raise awareness on the value of the mangrove ecosystem.

Subic, Zambales - Some 417 scholars of Malampaya Foundation's Project Galing at Negosyo Dulot ay Asenso (GANDA) and Sanayan sa Ikauunlad ng Kaalamang Pangkabuhayan (SIKAP) claimed their certificates for completing various courses that aim to capacitate beneficiaries with knowledge and skills for employment, self-employment and enterprise-building.

Taytay, Palawan - An agreement to protect and strengthen management of the Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape (MSPLS) in western Taytay, Palawan was signed between the MSPLS Protected Area Management Board represented by Department of Environment and Natural Resources 4-B Regional Technical Director Gwendolyn Bambalan, Taytay LGU represented by Municipal Mayor Romy Salvame and Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) represented by Executive Director Karen H. Agabin.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan - Enforcement and Coastal Resource Management (CRM) workshops were conducted jointly by the Palawan Provincial Government's Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, Palawan Council for Sustainable Development and Malampaya Foundation aiming to strengthen North Palawan local governments plus communities' implementation of CRM plans and understanding and implementation of the country's fishery code, wildlife act and chainsaw act.

Puerto Princesa, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc. signed memorandum of agreements with Western Philippines University (WPU) and Palawan State University (PSU) on May 7, 2014 to launch the Malampaya Sustainable Development Scholarship Program, a full undergraduate and post-graduate university scholarships in the areas of engineering, energy development, environment management and marine sciences.

Coron, Palawan - Damaged boat engines on a small island named Bulalacao in Coron, Palawan will receive proper care and maintenance after a one-week training on small engine repair was participated in by 31 residents of the island via Malampaya Foundation Inc.'s (MFI's) Sanayan sa Ika-uunlad ng Kaalamang Pangkabuhayan (SIKAP) program. The skills training is applicable to small boats and motorcycles.

Oriental Mindoro - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) provided assorted safety gears to members of Bantay-Dagat in eight coastal areas in Oriental Mindoro to fully equip them in their seaborne patrol activities while protecting the marine environment. The support is part of the foundation's Verde Island Passage (VIP) Conservation Program which covers Batangas city and the whole east coast of Oriental Mindoro.
