Batangas City - Over 80 children from 14 Batangas City schools participated in the Young Eco Savers environmental youth summer camp designed to build leaders and equip Young Ecosavers Club of participating schools with the tools to strengthen implementation of ecological solid waste management (ESWM) activities.
The youth camp, conducted by Malampaya Foundation Inc. in cooperation with Solid Waste Mgmt Association of the Philippines, likewise aims to be able to roll out assessment and monitoring tools to be utilized by the student leaders and members in the schools and communities.
ESWM activities are focused on waste avoidance and reduction, composting, material recovery facility, waste segregation, mulching, management of residual plastics, recycling and litter control.
