Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro - Municipal ordinance number 2015-001 establishing and providing the operation and maintenance of the Puerto Galera Mangrove Conservation and Ecotourism area in barangays Tabunay and Dulangan was finally passed and enacted by the municipal council on February 11, 2015.
The enactment marks a milestone in the establishment of approximately 4.5-hectare marine protected area comprised of mangroves, reef and beach areas.
MFI and partner community organisations in Dulangan and Tabinay installed bouys and markers within the newly-established marine protected area (MPA) to mark eco-tourism areas. Soft launching of the Siganay Mangrove Walkway was likewise conducted on April 17, 2015 with the local government of Puerto Galera.
