San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro - Active Bantay Dagat members in barangays Tacligan and Ilag of the municipality of San Teodoro received their Red Cross insurance and membership cards provided by Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) as part of its Verde Island Passage conservation program in the province, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro.
The insurance coverage is among the conservation incentives endowed by MFI to the volunteer enforcement work done by active fisherfolk bantay dagat members to safeguard marine protected areas and municipal fishing grounds in the coast of Oriental Mindoro. A total of 100 insurance cards were released to bantay dagat members in six municipalities.
