Oriental Mindoro - In the wake of typhoon Nona which devastated several municipalities in Oriental Mindoro on December 15, 2015, Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) immediately mobilised for relief operations in partnership with Philippine Red Cross (PRC) Mindoro chapter and the Provincial Government of Oriental Mindoro.
MFI provided over 1,900 relief bags containing rice, easy-open canned meats and 5-gallon distilled water distributed to eight (8) barangays in four (4) municipalities which were among the hardest hit by the typhoon. These are Baco (Bgys San Andres and Pulantubig), Pola (Bgys Putting Cacao and Calima), Pinamalayan (Bgys Ranzo and Banilad) and Gloria (Bgys Agsalin and Sta. Theresa).
PRC Mindoro and the provincial government provided additional manpower and logistical support in the form of 4x4’s, ambulance and trucks in the course of the relief operations which lasted 5 days. Following the relief operations ise rehabilitation and rebuilding of livelihoods damaged in MFI’s above-mentioned coastal program sites.
