Taytay, Palawan — Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) launched Tanglaw Paaralan in two schools located in the outer Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape in Taytay, Palawan on December 13, 2017.
Pancol National Highschool (Banbanan extension) in Barangay Banbanan and Malampaya San Jose National Highschool in Barangay San Jose were endowed with solar home systems to power Knowledge Channel packages to enhance the learning experience of public school students, as well as provide effective teaching aids to teachers.
Among the notable outcomes attained in other schools by Tanglaw Paaralan are reduced absenteeism and improvement in test scores of the students.
Barangays San Jose and Banbanan are conservation partner communities of MFI, having signed conservation agreements in 2016 to work together in the establishment and management of strict protections zones, rehabilitate coastal and marine areas, launch alternative livelihood projects and raise awareness on environmental issues.
