MFI's SHORE-trained Bantay Dagat Rescue Team volunteers from San Agustin Silangan, Isla Verde, Batangas City rescued eight (8) distressed passengers of a capsized boat in Batangas Bay last March 28. Strong winds and waves caused the capsizing, throwing the passengers into tempestuous waters.
The volunteers encountered the incident while patrolling the vicinity and immediately responded to rescue and assist the passengers, in cooperation with the Simlong Barangay Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council and Batangas City DRRMC.
Shoreline Communities Onwards to Resiliency (SHORE) is a program of the Malampaya Foundation to capacitate coastal communities in disaster response and preparedness.
