Rice provision support to active volunteer bantay dagats and rangers released

Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI) together with the Department of Energy (DOE) released conservation partner communities’ conservation incentives for active volunteer bantay dagats and park rangers throughout north Palawan, Oriental Mindoro and Verde Island Passage sites in June.

Among the conservation incentives is the provision of rice sacks released twice a year to the community enforcers protecting community-managed marine protected areas or national parks.  Other incentives include insurance, livelihood support, skills trainings and scholarships for family members.

MFI, the Malampaya JV and the DOE have been supporting bantay dagats and park rangers since 2013.
