Subic, Zambales — Public utility vehicle drivers, particularly tricycle drivers, will receive education and training in defensive driving until the end of 2013 as part of Malampaya Foundation's Kaligtasan sa Daan (KALSADA) program in Subic.
KALSADA is part of an effort to inculcate proper behavior and impart technical safety skills among tricycle owners and drivers to contribute towards safer driving practices. The first-of-a-series of trainings, which combines interactive lectures and practicals, was kicked off on July 16, 2013 at Barangay Wawandue, Subic Town with Safe-T-Ryders as trainor and resource.
The program likewise includes a component on capacitating traffic enforcers which provides refresher on traffic rules, regulation and traffic direction and control. The workshops, held in late June, was conducted in partnership with the Land Transportation Office-Law Enforcement Traffic Adjudication System Olongapo and the Provincial Highway Patrol Group Zambales.
