Pilot community solar micro-grids in Palawan inaugurated

Linapacan, Palawan— Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI) inaugurated with the Linapacan local government on June 24, 2024 its pilot community micro-grid sites in the municipality to support missionary electrification of remote sites and islands.

The islands of Binalabag and Cabunlawan were installed with decentralized, clustered solar power systems by MFI, funded by Prime Energy, and in partnership with the Linapacan local government and the communities for some 180+ households. The clustered grids have an annual system energy production capacity of about 120,000kwh.

The two islands are the pilot sites of MFI's Tanglaw sa Komunidad program which supports missionary electrification efforts of the Department of Energy.
