Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI) released more food aid for active bantay dagats and members of conservation-partner people’s organizations in the municipalities of Pinamalayan Gloria, Bulalacao, Naujan, Bongabong and Bansud as disaster relief support from the impacts of the oil spill in the municipal waters of Naujan.
Bantay dagats are frontliners for coastal and ocean-related conservation as well as disaster response during natural and man-made calamities in the sea. The economic impact of the accident likewise has the most impact on coastal dwellers who rely on the ocean for food and livelihoods.
The food aid includes sacks of rice and 10-15kilos of assorted canned meats. MFI will also support the province’s long-term plans for recovery and rehabilitation from the disaster via continuing marine conservation and socio-economic improvement programs.
