Coron, Palawan — Two (2) new public schools were provided Tanglaw Paaralan packages in Coron in August and September as part of a conservation incentive to the partner communities of Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) in the municipality.
Marcilla Elementary School and Bulalacao Integrated School (BIS) were each endowed with Knowledge Channel units containing multi-media educational tools and resources to enhance the learning experience of public school children and support the teaching methods of teachers. An off-grid school, the BIS package included a set of solar electrification unit to power the multimedia facilities.
Previous Tanglaw Paaralan school partners have reported reduced absenteeism and increased test scores among students, and have observed increased understanding of subject matters being taught.
Tanglaw Paaralan was piloted by MFI and USAID’s AMORE program in two Coron schools in 2013. Most schools in MFI’s conservation-partner communities in the municipalities of Taytay, El Nido, Linapacan have been endowed with the educational package.
