Taytay, Palawan-- More than 61,000 kilos (61+ tons) of food items from Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI) arrived at Liminancong Port in Taytay, Palawan on January 5, 2022 destined for various communities in west Taytay and the municipalities of Araceli, Dumaran and Roxas.
Transported by navy vessel LC-288, food items comprised of rice and canned meats sailed from Sangley Point, Cavite before the new year on December 29, 2021 but had to seek shelter in Coron for five days before sailing again for its final port of destination.
MFI worked in close coordination with the Philippine Navy, Joint Task Force Malampaya, Western Command, the local governments of Taytay, Araceli, Dumaran, Roxas and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction management to enable the humanitarian mission.
The calamity assistance was rendered by MFI on behalf of the Malampaya Joint Venture partners in view of the severe impact to select north Palawan municipalities by typhoon Odette which passed the above-mentioned municipalities on December 17, 2021.
