Malampaya Foundation Inc (MFI) deployed clean-up materials to Pola, Oriental Mindoro to support the oil spill response in the areas affected by the pollution from the sunken vessel RDC Reield off Naujan carrying 900,000 liters of industrial oil from a manufacturing facility in Limay, Bataan.
Clean-up materials such as shovels, boots, gloves, pail, barrels and oil spill response tools sent from the Malampaya Supply Base in Batangas City such as oil absorbent pads, spill booms, spill kits, drums, tote tanks and other oil-grade gears that were sent to the local government of Pola and different coastal barangays of the municipality.
The most affected by the oil sludge are MFI’s conservation partner coastal communities in Pola, awarded among the best-managed marine protected areas (MPAs) in the province and in the country.
