Coron, Palawan - Malampaya Foundation Inc.'s (MFI) rehabilitation assistance in Coron commenced with training able-bodied males in basic carpentry and building skills to aid in the proper rehabilitation and repair of infrastructures such as homes, schools, day care centers, boats and other community structures. The rehabilitation project is being conducted as part of MFI's Sanayan sa Ikauunlad ng Kaalamang Pangkabuhayan (SIKAP) program.
Trainees were provided complete carpentry kits and building materials such as lumbers, marine ply, metal sheets, etc. to repair the shared community structures, as well as trainees' own homes and boats. The trainings were conducted by Technical Skills Development Authority-accredited instructors from Western Philippines University.
Repair projects of beneficiaries on the islands of Bulalacao, Canipo and Lajala included schools, day care centers and churches.
