Taytay, Palawan — The new 8,000-hectare management zone within the Malampaya Sound Protected Landscape and Seascape (MSPLS) was launched on January 20, 2016 by the El Nido-Taytay Department of Environment and Natural Resources Protected Area Office (DENR-PAO), local government of Taytay, barangays Liminancong and Tumbod and Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI).
The launch was kicked off by a mass, followed by a program at Liminancong covered court and ceremonial launch of bouys and markers at one of the designated core zone of the management zone.
The new management zone was approved by the MSPLS Protected Area Management Board on August 25, 2015 after more than two years of social and legal preparation to comply with regulatory requirements.
