Coron, Palawan — Barangay Lajala public elementary school’s Tanglaw Paaralan package was given an upgrade with the turn-over yesterday of a new knowledge channel system with a sky-direct satellite dish for automated updating of K-12 educational content.
The school was among the pilot recipients of a similar system in 2013 under Malampaya Foundation’s (MFI) partnership with USAID’s Alliance for Mindanao Off-Grid Renewable Energy (AMORE) program, providing solar-powered education and teaching support tools to off-grid public schools.
Barangay Lajala in Coron is MFI’s conservation-partner community for its marine biodiversity conservation program, with Lajala having placed 2nd Best-Emerging Marine Protected Area (MPA) at the 2016 USAID Recognition Awards for Calamianes’ Ecosystem. Its expanded 739-hectare MPA was launched in June 2016. The Lajala Elementary School are among the active sectors of the barangay in conservation activities.
