Calapan, Oriental Mindoro - Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) signed several conservation pacts to strengthen coastal and marine conservation efforts in several coastal municipalities and barangays in eastern Mindoro.
Conservation pacts signed by MFI were with Samahan ng Mandaragat ng Banilad, Samahan ng Mangingisda ng Ranzo, Agsalin Fisherfolk Association, Seaweeds Farmers Association (Bgy. Balatasan), St. John the Baptist Fisherfolk Association (Putting Cacao) and Calima Socio Economic Multi-Purpose Cooperative, along with the various barangay local governments of the marine sanctuaries concerned.
The signing was witnessed by Pola municipal mayor Leandro P. Panganiban Jr., Oriental Mindoro Provincial Agriculture Office Head Petronilo Dimailig and members of the Oriental Mindoro Strategic Intervention and Community Focused Action towards Development who are partners and staunch supporters of environment conservation efforts in the province.
