Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro — Community stakeholders planted propagules and conducted coastal clean-ups in this municipality’s new mangrove conservation and eco-tourism site to commemorate Earth Day 2016.
The celebration was joined by school-children, women, partner conservation organisations and community officials.

The mangrove protected area, measuring approximately 22 hectares, was legislated in February 2015 and launched in August of the same year. It features a walkway winding through the mangrove forest that has become a tourist attraction and environmental education destination for students.
