Active Palawan Bantay Dagats receive incentive

Active Bantay Dagats (sea rangers) of the municipalities of Coron, El Nido and Linapacan received their incentive from Malampaya Foundation (MFI) for their selfless dedication in guarding marine protected areas (MPA) as volunteers of the community.

The active sea rangers are deputized fish wardens and wildlife enforcers of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources and are likewise members of their communities’ MPA management council and/or Barangay Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils. Most are also members of the community people’s organization that signed a conservation agreement with MFI.

Aside from rice support, included in the incentive scheme are accident insurance, livelihood support and vocational scholarships for qualified dependents.
