Tagaytay City, Tagaytay — Malampaya Foundation Inc. (MFI) received its third regional Gawad Kalasag award on January 14, 2016 at the Development Academy of the Philippines in Tagaytay as 2015 Best Civil Society for Humanitarian Assistance from the Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council IV-A.
The award, received by MFI Chairman Rufino Bomasang, was accorded to the foundation for its Shoreline Communities Onwards to Resiliency (SHORE) program which capacitates communities on disaster preparedness, response and mitigation together with local governments and non-profit organisations.
The program employs ladderised trainings which include modules on first aid administration, basic life support, water search and rescue and incident command system to ensure a wholistic approach to disaster preparedness.
MFI’s previous Gawad Kalasag recognitions were awarded in 2008 and 2013.
